Call for Summer Applicants Now Open
SALEM, MA – Today, the Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) announces the launch of a TikTok Creator-in-Residence program – the first of its kind for any U.S. art museum. Now accepting applications for the summer of 2023, the program seeks to collaborate with current or recent New England area art school graduates to increase engagement with PEM’s TikTok channel by producing creative videos exploring the museum’s art and collections, events, and stories. The TikTok Creator-in-Residence program will enable the chosen creator to hone their skills, gain workplace experience, and build their portfolio. The application process requires a portfolio of TikTok videos showcasing creativity, storytelling, and production skills.

The Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) is seeking a creative and energetic TikTok Creator-in-Residence for the summer of 2023. As the TikTok Creator-in-Residence, you will collaborate with the museum’s education and marketing teams to develop and produce TikTok videos that heighten engagement and increase awareness of the museum, its programs, exhibitions and people.
Responsibilities include the following:
-Develop, produce, and edit TikTok videos that explore the museum’s art and collections, events, and stories.
-Identify and engage key social media influencers for takeovers, special features, and other collaborations.
-Collaborate with multiple teams, including education, marketing, curatorial and visitor engagement , to brainstorm, plan and implement TikTok videos that align with the museum’s mission and strategic goals.
-Research and stay up-to-date with TikTok trends and best practices to create impactful and engaging content.
-Attend museum events and programs to capture behind-the-scenes moments and artist interviews.
Requirements include the following:
-Preference is given to applicants who are currently enrolled in or recent graduates of a New England-based art school.
-A strong portfolio of TikTok videos showcasing creativity, storytelling, and production skills.
-A passion for art and culture, and a desire to share it with a broad audience on social media.
-Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with museum staff and visitors.
-Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently as well as creatively collaborate with team members.
This is a paid summer position that will be based at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts. With access to one of the most dynamic collections in the country, the TikTok Creator-in-Residence will have an exciting opportunity to develop their skills and gain valuable experience in the museum marketing and social media fields.
