For the first time in generations, Lynn’s waterfront isn’t something to just dream about. It’s open, accessible, and ready to enjoy. And now we’re celebrating this transformation with an official ribbon cutting at Lynn Harbor Park.

On Tuesday, September 23, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., city leaders, partners, and community members will gather at Lynn Harbor Park to commemorate the rebirth of nearly 30 acres of waterfront land that had been closed off for decades. What was once a landfill and inaccessible shoreline has been reimagined as a space for walking, playing, gathering, and simply enjoying the harbor that has shaped our city’s history.

This celebration isn’t just about cutting a ribbon. It’s about honoring the partnership, vision, and hard work that brought Harbor Park to life. From the City of Lynn and the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EOEEA) to Lynn EDIC, Charter Development, and countless residents who shared ideas and feedback, this moment belongs to the whole community.

Visitors will be able to explore nearly two miles of walking paths, recreational courts, an outdoor amphitheater, and wide-open green space designed for everything from quiet reflection to lively celebrations. And this is only the beginning. Future phases of the park will bring even more amenities, like playgrounds, fitness areas, and connections to Nahant Beach and Lynn Shore Drive, creating a continuous shoreline path through the city.

The ribbon cutting will be a chance to see the park in action, meet the people behind its transformation, and imagine the possibilities still to come. Most of all, it’s a chance to come together and celebrate the fact that Lynn’s waterfront is truly for everyone.
