The purpose of Van Go is to bring art to youth out in the community—especially to those who haven’t yet had the chance to experience being part of our programs. We chose you to work with us because we feel you have the drive, desire, and creativity necessary to provide kids in the community with a safe, fun, active, and productive arts experience.
Our main job this summer is to help create moments where kids feel connected, cared for, heard, understood, supported, and accounted for. Of course, we will be working with them on specific projects and playing games with them—but as you already know, one of RAW’s main purposes is to help create a safe space for kids to express themselves through the art-making process. Just a simple moment of kindness or listening to a kid talk about their day or week while making art together can help that kid have hope for another day!
With this project, we aim to create and inspire positive reflections and uplift people in our community through art using mirrors, rocks, paint, and words that emit love, compassion, kindness, and positive vibes!
…aaaaaand the best part…we will do this while activating different spaces in parks throughout the city with the help and participation of local community organizations, elected officials, and community leaders that will be providing resources,
information and more for youth and families!
…aaaaaand another best part…FREE BOOKS TO TAKE HOME!!! Courtesy of The REAL Program in Lynn, MA!
