Join K.Lou (formerly known as Bradley Nicosia) , a Lynn-Based artist known for his unconventional approach to intricate designs, as he hosts his Solo Show “GRIME” ; an immersive experience that captures the raw essence and texture of an urban, and hip-hop influenced lifestyle.
GRIME will present its Opening Reception on August 22, 2023 from 5pm to 8pm located at Galleries At Lynn Arts (25 Exchange Street, Lynn MA 01902) and will run until August 28. The exhibition will feature a transformative space for viewers to engage in K.Lou’s vision: A dynamic environment, embodying the vibrant energy and textures mirroring the vines gracefully entwined along Lynn’s brick walls.
EDITOR’S NOTE: This event takes place during GALA’s Pop-Up series.
Known for carrying the emotions and narratives embedded in his work, K.Lou’s inspiration stems from his experiences living in Lynn, MA. “…I have an intimate familiarity with every street corner, train track, and restaurant.” He stated “This profound connection to my surroundings fuels my artistic vision.”
Not only will GRIME feature carefully curated pieces, but also introduce spectators to K.Lou’s passion for music. “The instrumentals I produce are a modern interpretation of 70s psychedelic jazz and the avant-garde ambience introduced in the 60’s through the early 2000s.” he said “In this fusion of genres, I aim to push boundaries, creating a unique auditory experience that combines the gritty, and distorted sound of modern hip hop with the soulful and euphoric chords of jazz music.”
Initially selling custom 1 of 1 clothing pieces, he quickly gained traction in the NorthShore through his relationship with neighboring communities. In 2022, at the age of 17, K.Lou was first place winner for Salem Arts Festivals Mural Slam, curating his piece “The Intersection”. Additionally, K.Lou has also been celebrated in his hometown! In 2023, he was featured in Lynn Music Foundations’ “Producer Showcase”, as well as Lynn’s very first Art Battle! “Artists competed in three rounds as the audience observed and acted as judges, determining the winner of the contest… contestants from Lynn included… Bradley Nicosia.” as reported by the Daily Item.
Art enthusiasts, and members of the press are invited to attend the Opening Reception for GRIME on August 22(free entry), to experience the world through K.Lou’s perspective, gain insight on his creative process, and appreciate the beauty in the intricacies of urban life.
