Liberation for All focuses on liberation for marginalized people (i.e., Black, Indigenous, People of Color). Taking place on the Fourth of July, this event signifies the ongoing pursuit for freedom, independence, and liberation for these respective communities. This initiative is an expansion of our Occupy Wyoma Square Protest. DPU has, annually, organized this protest featuring local activists, performers, and a reenactment of Frederick Douglass’ What to the Slave is the Fourth of July. Last year, we expanded the event to include a community gathering.
This year, the focus is community healing from local and international violence. The overall theme is peace and liberation for Lynn, Sudan, and Palestine.
Liberation for All will take place on July 4th at 12:00 pm. The protest will begin at Manning Field (76 Locust Street, Lynn, MA 01904). After a short march, we will Occupy Wyoma Square. The event will end with a community gathering at Flax Pond Park (650 Chestnut Street, Lynn, MA 01904).
