Winston Churchill said that ‘Democracy is imperfect’; it requires our attention. To Defend our Democracy we bring together a program of History Scholars, Social Justice groups (with a visit from Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass) to speak on the importance of learning about our own History, and what we can do together to Defend our Democracy.
This is one of two events on October 4th focusing on this subject. On October 4 at 10am there will also be a tour of abolitionist graves in Pine Grove Cemetery. You can find out more about this event by clicking here.
The program is endorsed by the Lynn Schools, the Essex County Community Organization, The New Lynn Coalition, the Lynn Teacher’s Union and the Freedom To Read Campaign.
