Wanna make a box?
This workshop is open to non-woodworkers as well as woodworkers of all skill levels who would like to break into new territory. Using introductory woodworking equipment and hand tools in the shop to make a funky and functional box of your own design.
For brickyard-ers, we can certify you to use the equipment used in this workshop (chopsaw, bandsaw, drill press, sander, and various hand tools). For non-brickyard-ers, here is your chance to get involved in a makers’ studio!!
What can the user expect?
– Walk away with a complete or nearly complete functional box.
– Get introduced or more experienced with intro woodworking equipment and processes.
About the instructor:
Holly Kelly is an artist/sculptor who manages university sculpture, wood, metal, and mold-making shops. She loves to talk shop and problem-solve. Holly works with a wide variety of materials and processes to mimic and transforms objects in our daily lives. Check out her work at www.hollymaileykelly.com
We will provide all the materials needed to make the box. Reach out if you already have ideas or materials you want to work with.
You need to come wearing (or bring) shop-appropriate attire.
– No baggy, dangling, or flowy clothing
– Long hair tied back
– No jewelry
– No open-toed shoes
– Closed-toed, sturdy, non-slip footwear (workboots are great)
– Long pants preferred
If you have personal protective equipment, that is great please bring:
– Safety glasses (ANSI-Z87)
– Hearing protection
– Dust mask
